EDUCATION PROGRAMS

WE CAN COME TO YOU

DCD provides four educational programs covering Primary, Junior, Intermediate and Senior curriculum levels. Each program is cross-curricular covering elements of dance, social studies, history and geography. These programs help teachers cover the theory, as opposed to the physical, aspects of the dance curriculum. Please download the Education Brochure (below) for more details.

Class size: Up to 30 students
Price: $5 per student. Teachers and parent volunteers are free. A pre-visit guide will be sent to teachers.

* All Education Docents have had a police check.

TRAVELLING PROGRAMS

Education Kits based on the programs outlined in the Education Brochure for Primary, Junior, Intermediate and Senior levels are currently in development and will be tested in the 2016/17 school year. Once testing is complete, the kits will be available to rent by schools anywhere in Canada. Kits will arrive in a sturdy touring box with all required materials and teacher resources. Teacher support will be available by contacting Dance Collection Danse.

VIRTUAL EDUCATION

CANADIAN DANCE FAMILY TREE PROJECT /
L’ARBRE GÉNÉALOGIQUE DE LA DANSE CANADIENNE

The Canadian Dance Family Tree Project was designed to show students the links between generations of dancers, choreographers and teachers to help them better understand the ancestry of dance in Canada. It is an excellent way to build on reading comprehension and research skills.

L’Arbre généalogique de la danse canadienne est un projet conçu pour permettre aux élèves de mieux comprendre l’historique de la danse au Canada en illustrant les liens entre les générations de danseurs, de chorégraphes et d’enseignants. C’est un excellent moyen de mettre à profit leurs aptitudes en lecture, en compréhension et en recherche.

USING DCD’S VIRTUAL EXHIBITS AND DIGITAL MAGAZINES

Dance Collection Danse offers a wide variety of virtual exhibitions that provide valuable research tools for Intermediate, Senior and Post-secondary dance students, as well as those in Conservatory programs. There are Exhibit Series and Special Exhibits that vary widely in size and content. You can browse descriptions of Exhibit Series HERE and Special Exhibits HERE.

Likewise, each issue of DCD Magazine provides valuable research content not often found in mainstream media. For DCD Magazine, your students can use the “Author/Editor” or “Quick Find” searches on the left side of the page to begin their research. Ryman’s Cecchetti DictionaryBy Rhonda Ryman

Rhonda Ryman is a respected notator and educator and an expert in the Vagonova, Cecchetti and Royal Academy of Dancing methods of teaching ballet. Her Cecchetti dictionary provides useful definitions for ballet terminology.

Betty Oliphant: The Artistry of Teaching

Nadia Potts worked with National Ballet School founding principal Betty Oliphant to record exercises from a series of her classes. CUSTOM PROGRAMS

Dance Collection Danse can custom design programs to fit the needs and interests of specific groups. Contact us with your idea and we will help to design a fulfilling experience for your students or group.

Price: $125 up to 90 minutes ($50 per additional hour or part thereof)
LECTURES & WORKSHOPS

For lectures or workshops given outside Dance Collection Danse, the first 90 minutes costs $150, and each additional hour or part thereof costs $50. Travel expenses can be negotiated.
